A 29-year-old cisgender woman who is pregnant is seen in a clinic for evaluation of a 5-day history of vaginal itching, redness, and a new thick white vaginal discharge. After the evaluation in the clinic, she is diagnosed with vulvovaginal candidiasis. She is at approximately 25 weeks of gestation with her first child. She has no medical problems and has no prior episodes of vulvovaginal candidiasis.
